This is the Minnesota birding report for Thursday June 24th sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Dedrick Benz reported a CATTLE EGRET from Houston County on June 21st. The bird was seen along Houston County road 7 about a half mile west of county road 26.

Jesse Ellis found a LEAST BITTERN at the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge in Hennepin County on June 18th. The bird was at the end of the boardwalk that is west of the main parking lot.

Unusual was the COMMON MOORHEN found June 19th at the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center in Kandiyohi County. The only directions I have was that the bird was seen in the small wetland on the west side of a driveway that comes in from Lake Florida.

Jack Sprenger found a WHITE-EYED VIREO on June 21st and it was still present the following morning. This was near a rustic camp site located near Brown County road 13 in the northwest part of Flandrau State Park.

What was probably a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen June 19th at the intersection of Meeker County roads18 and 9, just north of Belle Lake in the southeastern part of the county. Another mockingbird was reported June 19th in Cook County about five miles west of the Gunflint Trail along the Lima Mountain Road.

Interesting were the two male YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS seen by Cole Foster on June 20th in Anoka County along the trail that runs on the east side of Linwood Lake just north of Carlos Avery Refuge.

Philip Chu refound that YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER at Sibley State Park in Kandiyohi County on June 20th. The bird was still at its previously reported location, west of the park's boat launch along the paved bike path. Look for the pond on the right side of the path.

The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday July 1st.
