1976Summerfirst definite nesting record for the state: on 7-16 at Blue Mounds St. Pk., Rock Co., a pair was found at their nest which had 1 newly hatched young, 1 egg and 1 cowbird egg (KE, JG); the nest, placed 18 inches high in a burdock, was collected for the Bell Museum; 4 other reports from KE: 5 singing males in e. Rock Co. on 6-5 (migrants); 6-8, near Chandler, Murray Co. (singing male); 3 singing males on 7-15 in sw. Rock Co.; one male all summer near Cazenovia, Pipestone Co. (first county record).

DAC, plus singing males 5/21+ Nicollet (near Courtland, reported at this location through June, see summer report) RMD, ph. †CMB, m.ob., 5/23 Brown (North Star Twp.) BTS. Only report from its traditional range was 5/18 Rock CRM.

2016Fall12 Diligent searching along the Minnesota River valley resulted in many reports documenting this species' expansion away from its traditional range in the extreme southwest. New county records 8/13–15 Big Stone (4, adults feeding young at gravel pit in Odessa Twp.) MJB, LAV, m.ob., 8/15–25 Swift (gravel pit, 200th Ave. SW between S.R. 59 and 60th St SW) †DOr, m.ob. Also reported from Blue Earth, Brown, Chippewa, and Renville. Late south 8/28 Redwood BTS, 8/29 Murray KnM (median 8/24).
2017Spring2 This late spring migrant (median 5/21) was only reported twice, both from counties where this species is expanding its range: 5/27 Brown (Hoffman Demolition area) WCM, 5/31 Renville (C.R. 15 north of Beckendorf Lake) ChH.

EzH, ASu, MO, 8/5 Todd (Browerville W.T.P.) BWF. Late south 8/22 Nobles HHD, 8/25 Lyon GWe, Pipestone KEm, JWH, 8/26 – 9/4 Hennepin TAT (median 8/26). Also reported from Brown, Dakota, Jackson, Lac qui Parle, Ramsey, Renville, Rock, and Scott.

2021Fall11 Birds found mostly southwest of a line from Big Stone to Faribault; only exception was a continuing male in Hennepin (Flying Cloud Fields) JKu, m.ob. High count 8/6 Pipestone (8, county total) RAE; all other reports were of 3 or fewer birds. New county record 8/7–10 Faribault (Baker Gravel Pit) KEm, JWH, m.ob. Late south 8/31 Pipestone (Edgerton) LVD, 9/2 Pipestone (Split Rock Creek S.P.) KEm, JWH, 9/20 Rock LVD (median 8/26).
2022Spring4 All reports: 5/6–30 Hennepin (sixth consecutive year of a nesting pair at Flying Cloud Fields) TWe, ebd, m.ob., 5/18–30 Rock (up to six birds between several locations) ebd, WCM, ebd, m.ob., 5/26–27 Nobles (Round Lake) CRM, m.ob., 5/29 Pipestone (Pipestone N.M.) 2022Fall8 All reports from the Southwest, or from McLeod (Spruce Ridge Waste Management Facility), Hennepin (Flying Cloud Athletic Fields) or Dakota (140th St. Marsh).
