This is the Duluth Birding Report for June 1st, 2014 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A WHITE-WINGED DOVE was seen on May 25th in Two Harbors along 1st Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd Street, but it has not been relocated. Small numbers of LONG-TAILED DUCKS continue to be seen at Agate Bay and Burlington Bay in Two Harbors as recently as the 30th. Kim Risen and others saw two RED-THROATED LOONS on the 30th at Flood Bay.

Karl Bardon found a PACIFIC LOON on the 26th at the mouth of the Lester River. Shawn Zierman saw two HUDSONIAN GODWITS at the Grassy Point parking lot off Waseca Industrial Road in west Duluth. Jeff Newman saw a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD on the 29th on the 4400 block of Regent Street in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth. Mike Hendrickson saw a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER on the 27th at 47th Avenue East and Oakley Street.

Kim Eckert and others saw a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE on the 30th in the Sax-Zim Bog along the Poplar Road (CR 27), 0.5 mile south of the Arkola Road (CR 52). Sparky Stensaas and others saw six UPLAND SANDPIPERS on the 28th at the same location.
