This is the Duluth Birding Report for April 16th, 2014 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
A flock of 25 LONG-TAILED DUCKS was seen on the 13th at Burlington Bay in Two Harbors. Kim Eckert saw an early GREATER YELLOWLEGS on the 9th at 27th Ave West in Duluth.
Other recent spring arrivals in the past week include WOOD DUCK, BLUE-WINGED TEAL, NORTHERN SHOVELER, REDHEAD, RING-NECKED DUCK, GREATER SCAUP, PIED-BILLED GREBE, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, TURKEY VULTURE, KILLDEER, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, AMERICAN COOT, BELTED KINGFISHER, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, NORTHERN FLICKER, EASTERN PHOEBE, YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER, AMERICAN TREE SPARROW, SONG SPARROW, FOX SPARROW, EASTERN MEADOWLARK, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD, and COMMON GRACKLE.
