This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, November 7th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

On November 2nd Dan Floren discovered a female LONG-TAILED DUCK on Lake Lillian in southeastern Kandiyohi County. The bird was seen from the public access on the southeastern side of the lake.

The SURF SCOTER influx continues with the sighting of a female bird on Lake Bemidji in Beltrami County on the 2nd. It was found on the east side of the lake just south of the Diamond bar.

A lingering OSPREY was seen November 7th at the Rush Creek Rest Area on I-90 just east of Lewiston in Winona County.

At the Sleepy Eye sewage lagoons in Brown County the following shorebirds were reported by Brian Smith on November 2nd: six AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, six DUNLIN, and five PECTORAL SANDPIPERS.

The LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was still on Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis on the 7th.

Along the North Shore of Lake Superior, the following species were reported on November 3rd: PACIFIC LOON at Burlington Bay just northeast of Two Harbors, Lake County; a female MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD one and a half miles east of Castle Danger in Lake County; and inland a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was near Isabella, also in Lake County but I have no specific information.

A CAROLINA WREN is visiting a feeder in Chisago City, Chisago County. Richard York first noticed the bird in his yard on October 30th.

On November 5th Grace Mayta and Norma Haugen saw an immature SUMMER TANAGER at their feeder near downtown Thief River Falls in Pennington County. Contact Shelley Steva for further information at crossbill7200@yahoo.com.

The first COMMON REDPOLL of the season was at Alison Clarke's feeder in Duluth on the 1st; she also spotted a late NASHVILLE WARBLER there on the 3rd.
