The BAND-TAILED PIGEON is still being seen near Hastings, Dakota County where it has been visiting the home of Hank and Carrol Tressel since late November. The hosts live at 20240 Quentin Avenue East.

A GREAT GRAY OWL was discovered near Baudette in Lake of the Woods County last week. It was found six-tenths of a mile west of the Pitt Grade on the Stoney Corners Road. There were several sightings of GREAT GRAY OWL in Aitkin County over the weekend. What was probably the same bird was reported at the junction of state highways 65 and 27, one and a half miles east of this junction, at the south end of the minimum maintenance road that is one and a half miles east of 65 and 27, and also three miles east of 65 and 27. Another bird was seen on County Road 4, four miles west of state highway 65.

Somewhat unusual were the two ROSS'S GEESE seen in Meeker County on the 5th. They were found on Lake Ripley south of the town of Litchfield. The best place to scan the lake is probably from Peter's Restaurant on the north shore.

A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen on the 5th northeast of Salem Corners in Olmsted County at the same location where one has been present for the past several weeks. This is 1/2 mile west of the intersection of 70th Avenue and 20th Street southwest.

A VARIED THRUSH has been visiting Karen Larson's home in Hennepin County since mid-December. Karen lives on the 7300 block of Niagara Lane North in Maple Grove.

Don Wansura found a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER at Loring Park in Minneapolis on the 7th. It was on the east side of the park's small pond.

WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were in Hennepin County on the 4th. The first was at Wirth Park on the trail that cuts through the marsh just south of Glenview Ave. The second was at Old Cedar Bridge on the trail east of the lot near Cedar Avenue.

A flock of over 400 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was on the grounds of Blue Fin Bay in Tofte, Cook County on the 3rd.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was on January 4th in the parking lot at the lighthouse in Two Harbors, Lake County. It was found in the trees near the base of the breakwater. The Townsend's Solitaire is still being seen in Rice County. On January 5th it was seen in a tree along Albers Avenue about six-tenths of a mile south of County Road 59. Alison Clarke had a Townsend's Solitaire in her yard in east Duluth on the 4th.

HERMIT THRUSHES were seen in Rochester, Olmsted County, and in Minnetonka, Hennepin County during the past week. Also, a couple of a GRAY CATBIRDS showed up. One was at a feeder Mahtomedi, Washington County on the 1st, and another was in Coon Rapids, Anoka County, at the home of Jim Hughes on the 2900 block of 132nd Avenue NW.
