Mille Lacs Lake in Crow Wing County had about a thousand COMMON LOONS on October 22nd, and on Monday October 20th, Lake Winnibigoshish in Cass County had 1080 COMMON LOON and 2577 BONAPARTE'S GULL. Also seen there were nine SURF SCOTERS and a single WHITE-WINGED SCOTER. Bob Janssen reported a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER from the Lewiston sewage lagoons in Winona County on the 17th, and WHITE-WINGED, SURF and BLACK SCOTERS have all been seen at various stops along the north shore of Lake Superior from Duluth to Grand Marais. Two OLDSQUAWS were at the Flood Bay wayside rest just north of Two Harbors on the 18th.

Interesting is the October 23rd CATTLE EGRET seen from the Old Cedar Ave. bridge in Hennepin County by Jim Eikenberry. This is the first report of Cattle Egret that I have received since last May 10th.

An AMERICAN BITTERN was found by Bob Ekblad on October 17th at the East Landfill Reservoir west of the town of Rochester in Olmsted County.

Shorebirds still being reported from around Minnesota at many different locations include PECTORAL SANDPIPER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER and COMMON SNIPE.

A LONG-EARED OWL was in Wright County near the town of Knapp on the 18th.

NORTHERN SHRIKES were seen in Duluth on the 19th, and at Tamarac NWR in Becker County on the 21st.

EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen by Nancy Overcott at her Fillmore County feeder on the 17th, in Wabasha County by Grant Shute on the 20th. Evening Grosbeaks have also been reported from St. Louis, and Crow Wing counties.

And finally, SNOW BUNTINGS and LAPLAND LONGSPURS have been reported from numerous locations, including the counties of Cass, Aitkin, Crow Wing, St. Louis, Lake and Cook.
