On September 14th, Mark Otnes birded just east of Fertile in Polk County and found a flock of woodland birds, including EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, EASTERN KINGBIRD, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, PALM WARBLER, BAY-BREASTED WARBLER and BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER.

On September 15th, Mark made a quick stop at the Rothsay Wildlife Management Area in Wilkin County to observe a PRAIRIE FALCON being harassed by a MERLIN. Ted and Kay Reissing, visiting birders from Georgia, were at Rothsay on the 19th and observed approximately 20 GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKENS.

In Pennington County on the 16th, Jeanie Joppru reported RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, PILEATED WOODPECKER, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and DARK-EYED JUNCO from her yard. At the Thief River Falls lagoons she found EARED GREBE and MERLIN.

A flock of approximately 1000 FRANKLIN'S GULLS were feeding over the Ironman Golf Course, next to Floyd Lake in Becker County on the 19th. A few COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were also seen with the gulls.

Mary Wyatt, south of Detroit Lakes in Becker County, had a mixed flock of migrants using her bird bath on the 19th, including NASHVILLE WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET and HOUSE WREN. Mary's neighbor, Arlene Stoll, still had a RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD on the 20th.

At the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge in Becker County, a PEREGRINE FALCON was observed on the 18th and 19th. A variety of hawks were also observed those two days, including NORTHERN HARRIER, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, COOPER'S HAWK, BROAD-WINGED HAWK and RED-TAILED HAWK. On the 20th, a wave of mixed forest birds were observed near the visitor center, including EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, RED-EYED VIREO, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, HOUSE WREN, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, HERMIT THRUSH, GRAY CATBIRD, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, NASHVILLE WARBLER, PINE WARBLER, PALM WARBLER, BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART and DARK-EYED JUNCO.

A PEREGRINE FALCON was observed flying over downtown Detroit Lakes on the 20th.
