The first snowstorm of the season descended on the 24th, dumping 3 to 7 inches of snow in the northwest. In front of this storm came the season's first SNOWY OWL, which was found at Zippel Bay State Park in Lake of the Woods County. Unfortunately, the bird was injured and transferred to the Raptor Center in St. Paul.

ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS have been reported daily from Roseau, Lake of the Woods, Marshall and Red Lake Counties beginning on the 21st.

EVENING GROSBEAKS and GRAY JAYS have been coming to feeders at Norris Camp in Lake of the Woods County this week.

At the Pembina Trail Preserve in Polk County on the 21st, SANDHILL CRANES were still present, along with BALD EAGLE, AMERICAN PIPIT, MEADOWLARK and AMERICAN TREE SPARROW. About 100 SANDHILL CRANES were also observed on the 23rd in Clay County.

At Old Crossing Treaty Park in Red Lake County, also on the 21st, were ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, BALD EAGLE, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, HARRIS'S SPARROW and AMERICAN TREE SPARROW.
