This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Tuesday April 23rd, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
On April 21st Dennis Wiesenborn reported a ROCK WREN at Moorhead in Clay County, just over the 12th Avenue North toll bridge. It was seen briefly on a large pile of dirt that is being used for new home construction. This bird has not been seen since, however, and is apparently gone from the area.
Also on the 21st a PRAIRIE WARBLER was seen by several people at Coon Rapids Regional Park in Hennepin County. The warbler was found on the west side of the river about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile downstream from the dam along the river trail in an area with cottonwoods and willows to the east, and a prairie-savannah habitat to the west.
On the 23rd, Bob Janssen and Denny Martin found a WHITE-FACED IBIS in Waseca County. Mott Lake is along county road 21 two miles north and a mile and a half east of the town of Waldorf.
Also note that neither the Scott's Oriole in Olmsted County nor the Black-throated Sparrow in Clay County has been seen since the 20th. If either bird reappears this report will be updated immediately.
