A second BAIRD'S SPARROW was found on the 14th in Polk County by John Richardson. Directions to this bird are to go west on CR 45 about 2.8 miles from it's junction with State Hwy. 32. The bird is on the south side of the road about 400 yards in. John put a pink flag in the vicinity of the bird's territory to help with location. John also reported that a variety of shorebirds were in the flooded field on the north side of the road across from the sparrow site. Species included AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, YELLOWLEGS, DOWITCHER and STILT SANDPIPER.

I have no current report for the first BAIRD'S SPARROW found by John Richardson at The Nature Conservancy's Glacial Ridge Project in Polk County on June 18th. However, directions to that site are to go 3.5 miles west on U.S. Hwy. 2 from its junction with State Hwy. 32, then turn south unto the gravel pit road. Go past the office and follow the main road that goes SE one mile from Hwy. 2. At last report, the sparrow was singing on the west side of the road, southwest of the large concrete slab.

At the Rydell NWR, also in Polk County, a pair of RED-NECKED GREBES with young were observed on Sunset Lake. RUFFED GROUSE continue to be heard drumming intermittently on some of the trails.

Mark Otnes birded in Wilkin County on the 14th. He found numerous NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS calling along CR 15 between two and three miles north of CR 26. DICKCISSELS were also abundant too. A single LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE was along old Hwy. 52 about ½ mile south of the Clay-Wilkin County line.
