This is the Minnesota birding report for Thursday September 19th sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Barb Kull called to report that about 100 GREAT EGRETS can be seen near the town of Ramsey in Anoka County. Also in Anoka County, Charlie Eck saw 13 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS at George Watch Lake on Sept 14th. And Jon Rabine found a LEAST BITTERN at the Old Cedar Ave Bridge in Bloomington on Sept 18th.

Two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE were at a Game Refuge outside the town Lurverne in Rock County on the 14th. A third GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen by Craig Mandel on Sept 18th at the Foley sewage ponds in Benton County.

On the 14th, Ray Glassel birded Chippewa County, south of the town of Wegdahl near the Minnesota River he counted approximately 400 shorebirds. In among these were SANDERLING, HUDSONIAN GODWIT, and AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER. STILT SANDPIPERS and RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were at Lippert Lake in Carver County on the 15th.

What was most certainly one of the LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS reported on last week's tape was rediscovered on Sept 13th at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis by Paul Budde. Both Lake Harriet and Black Dog Lake should be checked for this casual gull.

Ned Winters called from the Issac Walton League property along Auto Club Road in Bloomington and reports that an EASTERN SCREECH OWL can be heard calling there in the evenings.

An Albino BARN SWALLOW was seen Sept 15th, near Darin's Slough, northeast of Minneota in Lyon County.

And finally, recently reported fall migrants include YELLOW-THROATED VIREO plus NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH and MAGNOLIA, BAY-BREASTED, TENNESSEE and BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLERS.
