1930SummerThree shrike's nests were found, the earliest containing two eggs on April 26th (tho writer), the latest at Shakopee, held five young on June 15th (Leander Fischer),
1931SummerRalph Woolsey reports a nest with one egg on April 2?th and Hr. Swedenborg reports another with five eggs on May 2nd, and a third nes1; in which the fourth egg was laid on AprU 29th and the birds hatched on May 13th and 14th.
1932SummerA nest with 5 eggs was found on April ·~~-.~.; ' 26th (Swedenborg). When it was visited by Gustav Swanson on May 25th, it again held 5 eggs, eveidently a second brood.
1933Summer Thirteen nests were reported. Hiemenz located the first near st. Cloud on May 1st, when it contained 5 eggs. The last was found by Morse near Robbinsdale on Jur1c 28th. Its contents, a second brood, consisted of 4 young and 1 egg.
1934Summer Mr. and Mrs. Swedenborg found the earliest nest of 1ihis species on May 4th, when it held 4 ~ggs~ For the latest nest we must turn to St. Cloud, where Hanson found one on June 14th with 5 young ready to leave.
1935Summer Upson furnishes an interesting record. He came across a completed but empty nest April 19th that had a jublinnt mo.le singing nearby. Two eggs wore in tho nest which Prosser saw in Hennepin County May 1oth. And on May 19th Swodonborg saw 2 nests containing 5 and 6 eggs.
1936Summer Alden Risser and Charles Evans captured the early date for the "Butcher-bird" when they located a completed nest April 19th at Rushford. A nest of s.ix eggs was found on May 10th by E. D. · Swedenbarg. On May 24th both Bob Upson and Swedenbo~g found nests. Upsonts nest at Lake Traverse h~ld five large young; Swedenborg's discovery was of small young. Mrs., C. E. Peterson at Madison observed three grown young June 14th.
1937SummerA nest of one egg was found on May 9 by E. D. Swedenborg. D. Struthers and Upson found a nest on May 3 I that held three eggs and two young.
1938SummerDana Struthers found a nest of 4 eggs on May ro. Mr. E. D. Swedenborg found a nes~ of 6 eggs on May I5. Both occurred in Minneapolis.
1940SummerA nest of this interesting bird was found near Avon on June 12, by the T. S. Roberts Club; it contained 4 small young.
1945SummerNest with 6 young, Hennepin Co., May 12, Don and Eldeen Jacobs; nest with 6 eggs, Hennepin Co., May 5, Fred Blanch and Larry Flahavan.

Wacouta, Goodhue Co., 1 at feeder, MH; 1-1 Roseville, Ramsey Co., 1 at feeder, MIG (may have stayed longer ?); 12-23 to 2-14 Edina, Henepin Co., 1 at feeder, Mrs. Telfer (see Notes of Interest in previous issue); apparently only one previous winter record (not well-documented) for state.

1970Spring11 reports 3-29 Anoka RD; 3-30 Rice OR; 4-15 Washington WHL; 1 northerly report 3-37 Clearwater RD (possibly Northern?); many misidentified shrikes this spring; only positive mark is mask over bill; not all Northerns show barring and some Northerns show dark bills in spring. Size not relia ble without direct comparison.

1986Winter Very early migrants in Anoka 2/20 (KL) and Fillmore 2/28 (1. Hockema and A. Risser). The one recorded in McDougall Township, Morrison County on 2/3 (P. Svingen) may also be a very early migrant or could it have overwintered in the area? Whichever it was it needs documentation (Ed.).

1995Fall Reported from four south counties (3 l.y.). Late south 8/19 Lincoln (1) KE, 8/27 Washington (max. 3) TEB, JF, 8/27 Dakota TT. Also reported 8/9 Scott RG.
1996Spring Early south 3/12 Anoka PKL and Brown JSp, 3/16 Dakota RH; nested in three Dakota Co. locations WL. All north reports: 3/11 Pine DW, 5/11 Todd JSK, SDu, 5/17 Morrison (3) WM, 5/18–19 St. Louis TD et al. Grand total of 13 counties in the south and 5 north counties; minimum of 35 individuals.
