1930SummerThe earliest nest of the Bluebird, containing a complete set of eggs, four, was found by Marius Morse, near Robbinsdale, on April 28th. These eggs hatched on May 9th. The latest nest contained five ~ggs, on June 28th near Onamia (the writer). The above list includes records of nests found of one hundred species• Fourteen others are included, of which either the young were seen, l!Bing fed, or adults were seen carrying food.

1932SummerA nest with 1 egg was found on April 15th, an early date indeed {s. Stein). The latest date is June 19th, when a female was seen carrying nutritive nnterial to a nest {Swanson). An abandoned Bo.nk Swallow's hold is o.n interesting nesting sieht reported by Downey 1 Eisele. Still another nest was built under the eaves of o.n outhouse (Risser).
1933Summer Twenty-seven nests reported. The first, found near Minneapolis on May 5th by Swedenborg, contained 3 eggs. He also found the last in the same vicinity on July 22nd, when it held 4 eggs. The same observer reports eight nests, found between the above dates, which "i.rere built in rural newspaper boxes • Ax:el Hansen reports several nests located in rural mailboxes.
1934Summer Eisele found the earliest nest of this soft-spoken bird on Apri1 29th, when it held 2 eggs. Mr. and Mrs. Swcdcnborg reported tho latest nest (July 4th, 7 eggs) for this species. We wonder if this last pair were tryinB to na.ke up for the decreased nunber of young in drought-stricken areas.
1935Summer Thompson's April 30th record of a Eastern Bluebird's building is the first nesting data on this species for 1935. Prosser snw 4 oggs nt Lake Independence l4.ay 7th, Swanson ~a:w one egg at Annandale May 3oth, tllld Swodenborg saw 3 eggs July 4th end 4 eggs August 1st. The only young reported w~re seen by Breckenridge July 18th. ·
1936Summer Thompson at Aurora reports a nest with five eggs on May 28th. A nest vras shown George Rysgaard at North Branch -...rhich had, at that time, two young and one infertile egg. On Juno 8th Robert Upson and George Rysganrd found a nest of five eggs, one of which wns infertile. July 19th E. D. Swedenborg reported a nest contajning four eggs.
1937SummerDr. Mahle found a nest of five eggs near Plainview on May 30. On July 27 there were two eggs in a nest at Madison, Minn.; the two young left the nest on August IJ· (Mrs. C. E. Peterson).
1938SummerA nest and 4 eggs were found on May I by Swedenborg, at Minneapolis. From Plainview Dr. Mahle reports a nest of 5 eggs found in that :1rea on May 15. On July 4 E. D. Swedenborg found 3 nests which con­tained 4 small young, 3 large young, and fresh eggs, respectively. All of the nests were found at Minneapolis.
1940SummerSeveral nests were found by A. D. DuBois, T. S. Roberts Club, Harrell and Longley, Lester Carlander and K. Carlander. The earliest nest was noted at Lake Minnetonka on May 20 by A. D. DuBois; it contained 4 eggs.
1943SummerRamsey County, 3 nests, April 6 to June 6. Bros. Lewis and Pius. St. Louis Comnty, 2 young out of nests, August 7. 0. Lakela. Six milro N. Mpls., 2 nests with 7 eggs. W. J. Breckenridge.

1961SummerForest Strnad found 11 nests with eggs or young between 25 May and 10 August in in Dodge County. One of these contained four eggs on 10 August, a rather late egg-date for this species. It was apparently a third-nesting by the same pair, all in the same nestbox. Dean Honetschlager reports two nests in Washington County: one with three eggs on 25 June.

1963FallDespite many reports that the Eastern Bluebird is vanishing from former nesting areas, they were reported in satisfactory numbers this fall from Anoka, Ramsey, Wright, Winona and Fillmore Counties.

1986Summer The Bluebird Recovery Project (Mpls. Audubon and DNR Nongame) reported 8,883 nest boxes produced 2,801 broods, 12, 160 eggs and 10,430 subsequent fledglings. Not surprisingly, a number of contributors commented that numbers were up. Nesting was reported in 62 counties throughout the state including 24 county firsts (Bluebird Recovery Project unless otherwise indicated) in Lake of the Woods, Roseau, Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Wadena (DB), Douglas, Todd, Kanabec, Isanti, Dakota, Big Stone, Kandiyohi, Renville, Redwood, Murray (N. DeKam), Nobles, Jackson, Watonwan, Nicollet, Faribault, Waseca, Mower (RRK), Winona; probable nesting in Pennington. Also seen in 11 other counties.
