1945WinterSeveral records, winter visitant, apparently no large migration into southern Minnesota in the past ten years.
1961FallAs with the Redbreasted Nuthatch, it appeared that an invasion of this species would occur. But all reports have been for small numbers. P. B. ofslund saw two on 21 Oct. at Duluth. Jan Green reported them present in smal groups all through November, but never more than six per group. A. C. Rosenwinkel reported six in a spruce thicket near Lake Vadnais, Ramsey County on 11 Nov. That same day, in the western part of the state, Avifaunal Club members saw a single bird at the north end of Lake Traverse. Vireonidae: Five of seven species were reported.
1961WinterApparently one of the largest invasions in years. Mrs. J. M. Dahm of Winona, Winona County saw a flock of about 200 feeding on hack-berries between January 19 and 27. D. Honetschlager saw a flock in Mahtomedi, Washington County on February 17. R. F. Green and W. Ul vang saw a flock of 185 on December 30 near Duluth. By January 21, the only report at Duluth was a flock of nine seen by J. K. Bronoel.

1982Winter Reports from the three northern regions indicate the species was common in Jan. and Feb. north and east of a line from Pen nington to Aitkin. Peak numbers were 1,000 in Duluth on 2-5 (JC). 1983Winter The 19 December, 16 January and six February reports indicate this species was widespread and common from north east of a line from the Twin Cities area to Fargo. Scattered south reports from the Willmar, Cottonwood, Mankato, Owatonna and Rochester CBC's. A statewide CBC total of 1452 with a peak of 459 at Duluth.

1992Spring Reported from only seven north counties. Late north 4/4 Pennington KSS, 4/7 Cook KMH and Mahnomen RJ, 4/19 St. Louis KE.
1992Fall Reported from six north counties; early north 10/16 Cook PB, PS, 10/29 St. Louis SS, 11/5 Aitkin WN; one south report 10/25 Hennepin (one or two) fide PB.
1992Winter Scarce again. Reported from only 13 counties (14 l.y.). Numbers down in Duluth, but numbers up in Two Harbors and Ely. Large flocks noted 1/16 Roseau (500) SDM, and 2/25 Beltrami (400+) DJo. Only two south reports: 12/28 Carver (2) DM, and 1/26 Washington (60) WL. CBC total 559 (1,437 l.y.).
