1930SummerThough colonies of the Swift are nunerous in Minneapolis, apparently the only nest seen by any of the members was one which Alden Risser investigated at St. Paul on June 24th. At this time the nest held well-developed young birds. -29-The Flicker, 1930
1931SummerThree colonies at Shakopee, but the ne$t contents never investigated. ' ·r
1932SummerA nest with ; eggs was found at Ericsburg, July 5th (Swanson). It 1;as unique in being constructed on the wall of an abondoned cabin rather than the chimney. Bowey & Eisele report Swifts gathering twigs on Jw-·:G 1st.
1933Summer The only investigated nest containing eggs was seen at Shakopee by the writer on Mo.y, when it held 2. This is an exceptionally early date. Hiernenz observed Swifts collecting twigs at st. Cloud on June.3rd and on June 14th saw an almost-coJrq.pleted nest. He states that he has "found a nest of these birds i..."l this chimney · each year beginning in 1929. The nest is always placed directly · below the nest of last year and about 6 feet below the top of the chimney."
1934Summer The only nest of this species included in the reports wns found by Hiemcnz in St. Cloud on Juno 15th, when it hold 2 fresh eggs.
1940SummerR. M. Berthel caught an immature swift after a driving rain on June 23, at White Bear Lake. He dried it off with corn meal, and it was able to return to its nest in a nearby chimney.
1946SummerGathering nesting materials, May 28 and June 28, Olmstead Co., Moore; July 17, 5 young, Janet Sanford. Few persons find evidence of swifts nesting. They frequently are seen breaking twigs from trees in spring, and their presence about chimneys or other likely nesting places indicates their nesting; yet their nests are rarely accessible.
1961SummerOn 23 July, Dean Honetschlager reported young becoming noisy in his chimney at Marineon- St. Croix, Washington County. WOODPECKERS:

1999Fall Apparently departed earlier than usual north and south. Three early September reports north, where the recent median departure date is 9/16. Last reported 9/5 Polk EF (north) and 9/21 Hennepin SC (south). Median south departure is more than two weeks later (10/8).
2000Spring Seen in 35 south and 16 north counties. Arrived on time. Many reports in late April after 4/23 Hennepin PBu and Ramsey AH. Early north 4/30 Otter Tail SDM, 5/2 St. Louis FN.
2000Summer Most reports since 1988; seen in 52 counties statewide.
