59:571986-12-06Sumner Twp. Fillmore(vote 1-6). The two individuals were identified only on the basis of tail shape (which was only seen without binoculars) and size (however, nothing was present for direct comparison). Also , no vocalizations were described, and the observer apparently had no previous experience with raven vs . crow identification. Not Accepted
59:1431987-02-06MinneapolisHennepin(vote 1-6). No binoculars were used, and the reported larger size is suspect since there apparently was nothing nearby for comparison; the folded tail reportedly had a "wedge shape" but crows in molt can have atypical tail shapes which can appear wedgeshaped. Not Accepted

70:441997-10-28near RochesterOlmsted(record #97– 77, vote 2–5). The documentation does not include mention of the distance or light conditions at the time, or whether or not the observer was using optics at the time, and it seems the observer may have had only a cursory look at it since it appears to have only been watched from a moving car. The description of the bird only mentions that the bird was “very dark” with a “wedged tail” and a bill which was not hooked, and the majority felt that such a description and the conditions at the time involve too many uncertainties to accept such an out-of-range bird. Not Accepted

76:1522004-02-13county roads 33 & 31Lac qui Parle(recirculated record #2004-007, first vote 4–3, second vote 3–4). The identification was based primarily on shape and vocalizations, but it was unclear if the observer had any experience in separating ravens from crows using these criteria. Not Accepted
78:1262006-02-02Lac qui Parle L.Lac qui Parle(recirculated record #2006029, first vote 4–3, second vote 1–6). This bird was not seen in flight which precluded confirmation of tail length and shape. Nearly all of the vocalizations that were reported can be approximated by American Crow (C. brachyrhynchos). Not Accepted
