1992Winter Overwintered in Scott as usual, but number reduced (30?40 on 12/12 DN, only 5 on Excelsior CBC, and 17 on 2/13 DN — all presumably from the Mill Pond in Shakopee). Also overwintered in Hennepin (2) SC, and reported in Dec. and Feb. from Dakota and Winona.

Large numbers noted at Whitewater WMA, Winona Co. (44 birds on 1/29 increased to 86 on 2/27 FL). Possible early migrants 2/19 Rice TBo and 2/20 Wright KB.

1994Winter More than twice the usual number of reports. Reported from 17 counties with overwintering noted as usual in Twin Cities in Scott and Dakota, plus additional flocks overwintering at Whitewater WMA and at Prairie Island, both in Winona Co. Most other reports were in December and February. Peak of 50 on 12/31 at Whitewater WMA DN. CBC total 56.

Additional reports through early January include Dakota, Goodhue and Mower; also seen on the Bloomington, Winona, St. Paul and Bemidji CBCs. Apparent early migrants noted 2/16 Winona (40) CS and 2/20 Rice OR.

CBC high counts 12/14 Excelsior (41), 12/29 Wabasha (5).
